that the money would be forthcoming. Even if there were no financial obstacles it must be remembered that the Navy no longer has the resources which it had during the war. It has in fact been pared to the bone, and it would take anything up to two years or more to build the ships and supply crews. Something had been done however. The reserve gun- boat had been put into Commission and the Hong Kong Government had provided four launches for which the Admiralty had provided guns crews under naval officers, and complete Naval navigating crews are

now on their way out.
